Data Specification Template Version 4.1

Module Overview

In any credit information sharing mechanism, data is a critical component for the successful implementation of a working system. For this data to be meaningful, it is crucial to standardize the process of its collection thereby ensuring that extraction by credit providers as well as its interpretation by credit bureaus is synchronized.  For instance in Kenya, Teachers’ Saccos identify their customers using TSC Numbers, which do not apply to non-teaching institutions and would therefore not make sense.

In 2017, the central bank in partnership with World Bank Group formed a project (Technical Working Group) intended to strengthen credit reporting in Kenya. Among the objectives of the partnership was to amend the existing Data Specification Template (DST) v3.1.1 to accommodate emerging changes in the lending landscape e.g. Digital credit. which led to development of DST v4.1.

This course takes learners through the content of DST V 4.1.
